Description

Antique 1/4 Sawn English Oak cabinet scoreboard, made by George Wright & Co of Westminster Bridge Road, London C.1890. The scoreboard features 100 up rollers with lovely aged brass rails & pointers for marking billiards or snooker, a central chalk board, and Life Pool sliders with mother of pearl inlays & boxwood ebony stars. The scoreboard sits on parallel glazed ball cupboards that store 16 balls each and a glazed drawer with penny shoots to retrieve the ‘stakes’ that were wagered during the game of pool. The cabinet features 2 drawers and arched panelled cupboard doors underneath, with a fluted design flanking the doors, a lovely moulding at the base, original decorative brass handles and a pediment to the top.
