Description

A beautiful Victorian oak full sized billiard/snooker table, made by Thurston & Co of 16 Catherine Street, dating c.1892.  The table number is stamped 6687, and shown is a copy of the Thurston ledger showing that table number 6687 (top) dates 4/5/1892, describing the table as ‘A special carved oak table with thurstonic cushions, to be made by coveted makers Gowing & Cooper’

The table is made of solid English Oak, and features sloping friezes to the body to create a sleek, tapered design. The legs are turned and carved, featuring decorative ram horns towards the top. The cushion bears the remodel plate when Thurston’s improved the cushions in the 1930’s. The frame supports a 2 inch thick bolted welsh slate also.

The cushion rubbers will be replaced with NR professional rubbers and covered in WSA approved Strachan 6811 traditional cloth, and the pockets will be fitted with hand stitched English leather pockets and cotton bag nets. Ground floor delivery and installation are also included.
