John Bennett Billiards was founded in 1821, and based at 35 Surrey Street, Strand until fire destroyed the building in 1898. After the fire the business moved to Vincent Square, London SW1, although it did not stay there very long.
Soon after the turn of the century, the company moved to 120 Newington Causeway, London SE1, where tables continued to be made until fire again destroyed the building in 1941, during a fire bomb raid in World War II.
In 1967, the company moved to their most memorable address in the Old Kent Road, until the company was taken over by Rileys in the late 1970’s, and the name disappeared. Following it’s incorporation in 2005, the company is now trading from premises in Kent. Thurston trained table maker and fitter Michael Hudson is lucky to be able to continue John Bennett’s legacy as the company enters its 200th year.
Since 1821, this family run business has been making state of the art snooker tables which are known throughout Europe for their superior quality and craftsmanship.

John Bennett (Billiards) Ltd prides itself on the quality of it’s workmanship. With over 30 years experience in the trade, Michael Hudson started with Thurston, as an apprentice table maker, and learnt his skills from the oldest table makers in the world. We have our own workshops in Kent, where we can manufacture bespoke snooker tables of any size, including billiard dining tables. We are one of only a handful of people in the country that can offer this service. With imports from China flooding the market, using poor quality materials, and mass produced, we have developed a range of snooker tables, which offer both uniqueness and quality, using only the finest raw materials, all carefully sought here in the UK. We are creating antiques of the future.
We have a large range of antique snooker tables of all sizes, and makes. These are ready to be lovingly refurbished, to suit your own personal specification.
We also offer a complete refurbishment service, whereby we collect your table, and completely strip it back to the bare wood, restain, and repolish it, enhancing the grain of the timbers. We then return the table to yourself, and re-erect it, leaving it ready for play.

Recovering Services
We can recover all manner of cue sports tables from small bagatelle tables, to full size snooker tables, and both American and English pool tables. We are also able to replace cushion rubbers and supply and fit new nets and leathers to the pockets.
We recommend using Strachan West of England cloth and Northern rubbers.
